Tradecraft Azorian

  • $65.00
Style

In 1974, the CIA lifted a Soviet nuclear submarine off the floor of the Pacific Ocean. The operation was called Azorian and almost nobody knew it happened until decades later.

That's the kind of story Rob Blumenthal and Wiber Ventura wanted behind this cigar. Precise execution. Unexpected complexity. A result that doesn't announce itself until it's already impressed you.

The Azorian is Tradecraft's medium-bodied flagship, produced by Ventura at Tabacalera William Ventura in Tamboril, Dominican Republic. The wrapper is a 7th priming Ecuadorian Habano, reddish-brown, oily, and sourced from a leaf that's been through every priming below it.

Underneath: an Ecuadorian Sumatran binder and a filler blend of Pennsylvania broadleaf, Ecuadorian Puntiao Habano 2000, Corojo, and Criollo 98. Five tobaccos. One cohesive smoke. The notes follow through exactly as the blend promises, caramel on the open, earth and baking spice through the mid, with a faint sweet rum on the close. Nothing forced. Nothing out of place.

The 5×54 Robusto is the format this blend was made for. Short enough to respect your time, wide enough to let the filler blend breathe properly.

UHC™ 100-Point Review System

A five-tobacco filler blend with a 7th priming Ecuadorian Habano wrapper — the construction on the Azorian is deliberate at every layer. Caramel, earth, baking spice, and sweet rum in a cigar that stays balanced from first third to nub. This is exactly the kind of find the UHC catalog was built to surface.
