Summer Picks for 2026
Six months into the year, these are the ten best cigars from the UHC™ subscription that earned a permanent seat in my humidor — from rare limited releases to boutique discoveries you couldn't find anywhere else.
Every year I tell myself I'm going to keep detailed notes on every cigar we include in the subscription. Every year I fail to do that for the first three months, and then I remember halfway through the year when one particular stick hits different and I find myself actually reaching for a pen.
That happened a lot in 2026. The first six months of this subscription have been some of the most exciting we've put together. A genuine mix of boutique sleepers, limited releases that had the cigar industry buzzing, and at least one UHC™ exclusive that I believe belongs in any conversation about the finest premium cigars we've ever curated.
So here it is: my personal summer picks list. Not a community vote, not a panel score, just the ten cigars from the first half of 2026 that I keep coming back to, and the reasons why. If you're already a member, I hope this brings back some great evenings. And if you're not yet a member, consider this your invitation.
Aladino 85th Aniversario Reserva
Light+I've always been a fan of Aladino. Julio Eiroa spent years making it what it is. What he created is a true Honduran puro unlike anything else on the market: a milk chocolate-colored wrapper, a cedar-forward nose, and a smoking experience that slowly unveils cashews, floral notes, and a cinnamon warmth that's impossible to rush through.
Why it made the list: It doesn't taste like a boutique cigar I've had before. At 87 years old, Julio Eiroa still has things to say and this one says them clearly. The perfect light-side summer morning smoke.
ChiMolly Dynasty
Medium+ChiMolly caught my attention the moment I saw the band. Two-tiered, bold blue, Chinese characters on the primary and a white horse on the secondary — it's one of the most visually distinct presentations in the boutique cigar industry right now. Made at the Mi Havana factory in Estelí by blender Zhuofeng Weng, the Dynasty marries an Ecuadorian Corojo wrapper with a Mexican San Andrés binder in a way that's truly chef's kiss. Creamy, smooth texture from start to finish with notes of raspberries, dried fruit, chocolate, and a light spice that builds without ever overtaking the profile.
Why it made the list: New voice, real texture. This is exactly the kind of boutique discovery the UHC™ subscription exists to surface — and I've already heard from members who've gone back for a box or bought our Chimolly Signature Pack.
Warped Isla del Cocodrilo Blanco
Medium+Kyle Gellis doesn't make boring cigars, and the Blanco is proof. Built around the same dual-binder construction as the original Isla del Cocodrilo — Ecuadorian Habano 2000 paired with Brazilian Arapiraca — but this time wrapped in a silky, Ecuadorian grown desflorado Connecticut that turns the profile on its head. The perfecto shape forces a slow burn that lets toasted cedar and roasted nuts give way to creamy coffee, vanilla, and a caramel richness in the final third. Limited to 1,500 boxes worldwide.
Why it made the list: Connecticut-seed cigars get a bad reputation for being sleepy. This one is anything but. One of the best limited-edition cigars of 2026.
El Mago Lotus
MediumNicholas Fusco founded El Mago as a tribute to his late grandparents, Maria and Gonzalo Torre, who perished in the Champlain Towers collapse in Miami in 2021. The Lotus is dedicated to Maria — her painting of a lotus flower inspired the brand — and every draw carries that intentionality. The Ecuadorian Habano wrapper brings richness without aggression, and the Nicaraguan Criollo binder adds structure. Notes of spice, earth, and coffee tempered by a beautiful tobacco sweetness across a long, elegant lancero smoke.
Why it made the list: Summer calls for unhurried smokes. In the Lancero, the Lotus demands your full attention and rewards it completely.
EPC Pledge Purple
FullThe original EPC Pledge earned a 98-point rating and the Cigar Aficionado #1 Cigar of 2020. So when Ernesto Perez-Carrillo sets aside that original Havana-Seed Connecticut wrapper crop and lets it age for over a decade before rolling again with a Mexican binder and Nicaraguan long fillers from three distinct regions, you pay attention. The Pledge Purple is what patience looks like in cigar form. Roasted espresso, dark cocoa, black pepper, and leather from the first light, building to a finish that stays with you long after the smoke clears. Limited to 3,500 boxes worldwide — one of the rarest premium cigars of 2026.
Why it made the list: Like in movies, some follow-ups disappoint. This earns its place beside the original. If there's one limited-edition cigar from this list you track down, make it this one.
Martello Cigars Ortolan
Medium+The Ortolan is the debut release from Martello Cigar Co., handmade in Little Havana at El Titan de Bronze — one of the most storied rolling floors in the country. The name references a French tradition of ritual indulgence, and the cigar delivers exactly that. A gorgeous Ecuadorian Habano wrapper grounds the blend in rich earthiness; the Nicaraguan binder and filler bring balance without burying what the wrapper has to say. Toasted almond, earth, black pepper, and creamy cedar from start to finish. A debut that smokes like a veteran's work.
Why it made the list: Getting early access to a debut boutique release like this is precisely what the UHC™ subscription exists to do. I'm proud we got these into members' hands first.
JM Tobacco Española 30th Anniversary Habano
Medium+JM Tobacco has been in business for 30 years, and this anniversary Lancero honors that milestone without fanfare — just tobacco doing the talking. The Habano wrapper brings richness and spice that complements the San Andrés binder beautifully, while the all-Dominican filler gives the blend a refinement you don't always find in a lancero format. Notes of rich cocoa, toasted nuts, espresso, and black pepper that build steadily across the long smoke. Limited to 1,000 boxes per vitola.
Why it made the list: 30 years in this business means something. This cigar tastes like earned experience and the lancero vitola makes every flavor transition feel deliberate and clear.
Ferio Tego UHC™ Timeless Exclusive
MediumWe don't use the word "exclusive" lightly, only when it's genuinely true. The Ferio Tego UHC™ Timeless Exclusive was created in collaboration with Michael Herklots, the former VP of Nat Sherman and co-founder of Ferio Tego, specifically for the UHC™ membership. The Timeless Collection has already earned five 90+ point ratings and a Top 10 Cigar of the Year in 2025. The UHC™ version brings everything the line is known for — silky body, complex development, impeccable balance — in a form that exists nowhere else. This is the kind of partnership that separates UHC™ from every other premium cigar subscription on the market.
Why it made the list: You can only get this cigar by being a UHC™ member. And it's f*cking delicious!
Undercrown El Tigre Dominicano
Medium–FullThe Undercrown line was born on the factory floor in Estelí when rollers started crafting their own blend outside of Liga Privada production. The Dominicano carries that rebel spirit into new territory by building the first Undercrown around a Dominican-forward filler: HVA and Criollo '98 leaf that gives the cigar an aromatic depth and refinement the line hasn't always had. The Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper holds it all together, and from the first light, waves of white pepper, espresso, and rich earth announce themselves with confidence. Previewed under the codename "Fire." That name stuck with me.
Why it made the list: Among the best new cigars of 2026, and one of the best value premium smokes of the year at $13.
My Father Blue
Medium–FullThe García family built a new factory in Honduras — the first premium cigar factory dedicated entirely to Honduran tobacco. What makes the My Father Blue remarkable is what Pepin and Jaime did with it: they grew their own tobacco at Finca La Opulencia in the Talanga region, 1,000 acres of Corojo and Criollo seed, and wrapped it in one of the rarest leaves on any production cigar: a Connecticut Broadleaf Rosado. The Rosado's distinctive sweetness plays beautifully against the earthy, complex Honduran core, delivering milk chocolate, baker's chocolate, black cherry, and mild spice in a breezy, digestible smoke. The blue band pays homage to the Honduran flag. It deserves to fly.
Why it made the list: Honduras has been underrated in premium cigars for years. The My Father Blue changes that conversation and UHC™ members smoked it before most of the industry knew it existed.
