Artesano Del Tobacco has carved out a niche in the premium cigar market by seamlessly blending traditional tobacco craftsmanship with modern innovation. Renowned for its artisanal approach, the brand has quickly become a favorite among cigar aficionados seeking both heritage and a fresh twist in every draw.

The El Pulpo The Eel is the latest release from Artesano Del Tobacco, maintaining the core blend of the original El Pulpo but with a notable twist, a lancero! The Mexican San Andrés wrapper takes center stage, enhancing the leather and cedar notes. There is also a hint of dry plum or raisin on the finish, adding a touch of natural sweetness.

El Pulpo, the "Octopus" in Spanish, isn't just any cigar. This Nicaraguan masterpiece, crafted by A.J. Fernandez and Artesano Del Tobacco in 2023, ranked #10 on Cigar Aficionado's Top 25 Cigars of the Year, making it a must-try for discerning smokers.

What makes it special? Exquisitely aged Mexican San Andrés wrapper. Unlike typical Mexican wrappers, El Pulpo boasts an extended aging process, resulting in a richer, deeper flavor profile. This meticulous dedication is why the brand took its time to come to market.

Worth the Hunt!

After eagerly awaiting its release, I finally got my hands on the El Pulpo “The Eel”—and wow, it did not disappoint. This sleek, slender lancero wears a pale brown yet oily, toothy San Andrés maduro wrapper, finished with a refined pigtail cap. Firm in the hand with just the right amount of give, it sets the tone for the craftsmanship inside. From the first puff, the draw is silky smooth, opening with flavors of dark chocolate, espresso, and cedar. Notes of oak, leather, and dried fruit weave in, while a touch of pepper adds complexity without overwhelming the senses. Without a doubt, it’s one of the most memorable lanceros I’ve smoked, and easily my favorite vitola in the El Pulpo collection. 🦄🔥
